CONSTRUCTION OF WASTE TRANSFER STATIONS
INFRASTRUCTURE
TIMBER CREEK AND PINE CREEK WASTE TRANSFER STATIONS
Client: Victoria Daly Regional Council
Location: Timber Creek and Pine Creek
Date: June 2023
The construction of Waste Transfer Stations at Timber Creek and Pine Creek aimed to enhance waste management services in the Northern Territory. The project focused on establishing safe public access to the designated dumping areas throughout the construction phase. Key activities included the excavation of historic rubbish at Timber Creek, levelling the ground, and installing security fencing. The project required minimal disturbance to the surrounding environment, especially the natural vegetation and creek banks.
At Timber Creek, Amrock Civil excavated a suitably sized pit for rubbish disposal, followed by ground levelling while preserving existing vegetation. Additionally, a security fence was installed along the front boundary, including a double-gate entrance. At Pine Creek, the Transfer Station area was constructed in accordance with the provided plans and specifications. Both sites included concrete drop-off areas to accommodate skip bins, ensuring efficient waste transfer operations.
The project adhered to all specified drawings and technical reports, ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards. This initiative not only improved waste management capabilities but also prioritised environmental conservation in the design and execution of the work.
The key components of the project included:
Construction at two sites; Timber Creek and Pine Creek.
Sufficient pit size for covering historic rubbish with a minimum of 1 meter of cover.
Approximately 210 linear meters of security fencing installed at Timber Creek.
Construction of concrete drop-off areas designed to accommodate skip bins as per specific drawings.
A minimum of 3 meters of natural vegetation left undisturbed from the edge of the creek bank.
